02/19/2017 Disappointing. The plot was so far fetched and unbelievable. The characters were stupid meaning they appeared so innocent and misbehave yet pursue the discovery of a lifetime. With very limited means and resources yet are successful. Did not keep our interest we both kept falling asleep. Wasted 2 hours of my precious time. See more 11/08/2014 I expected this movie to be a faith promoting historical event, but soon realized the plot in pursuing 16 stones was fictional. It then became awkward to watch the characters relate to the sacredness of the Book of Mormon, talk of golden plates, and seek spiritual guidance to find the sixteen stones used to guide Nephi's vessel. It was like watching Indiana Jones praying over his great treasure seeking adventures. Mixing fantasy with sacred scriptural accounts just doesn't work. I found myself wincing over what the non Mormons in the audience unfamiliar with Mormon doctrine were thinking. The mixture of fantasy with sacred accounts had to be confusing making the entire Mormon adventure as weird. Beyond the historical fantasy, the plot was choppy and dragged on. However, It was nice to see an attempt of creating great family entertainment that is laking in Hollywood, yet, the producers shouldn't assume a Mormon only cultural audience. In a sense, it was a bit rude to those not in the circle of knowledge. See more 10/29/2014 This film is very entertaining, with lots of action, beautiful scenery, authentic costumes, and a mystery to solve. The plot examines the interplay of faith and belief in a way that conveys the message without being preachy. I have seen it twice and recommend it. I was ready to walk out after 15 minutes, but this movie was such a turkey we had a hard time leaving because this may be the worst movie I have ever seen. See more 10/04/2014 "16 Stones" - Saw the movie: campy, silly, preachy, predictable, dialogue "OTN" (on the nose), bad story structure, not plausible, in your face sentimentality, historically inaccurate, heavy handed music, stereotypical characters, and poor camera work. The actors did remember their lines, that's about as far as they went. I usually don't write bad reviews. If I don't like something, I keep quiet and spend my energy promoting what I think is exceptional. BUT, this movie is so bad it will probably become a cult film. See more Read all reviews
