01/15/2013 people are messed up. all of them! i had to watch this for a class and just lets me know we are all messed up and that will never change while everyone is all messed up and full of hate. I will agree that the film does try to be unbiased but the anti-immigrant side comes off as major a**holes no matter what the filmmakers show (and I actually feel that they are anyway but that's my opinion). See more 03/30/2010 i found it terribly amusing the woman leading the charge against the immigrants had an extensive collection of troll dolls encased in glass behind her. it's unfortunate how small minded and ignorant people can be. At first, white folks were responding to legitimate concerns about overcrowding and loitering. But, when they got in contact with national groups, they started freaking out at the principle of Latino people in town. Best feel-good moment: when the day-laborer community organizes a soccer tournament to unite workers. See more 04/25/2008 Because of this movie, I finally took more of a stance about illegal immigration. One surprising part was how much these day laborers expect to be paid. A woman offered $7 per hour to a group of men, and they turned the offer down because they wanted at least $10 and thought $7 was "too cheap." I have had jobs where I worked for less than $7 per hour and paid taxes on top of it. One man said that he earns $100-$200 per day--that's a lot of money! See more Read all reviews
