After seeing Lost in Space, my first impulse was to say that it had been made by a bunch of sorcerers' apprentices who didn't know how to tell a story with their high-tech tools. But why give apprenticeship a bad name?

The new robot is a disappointment. Instead of the endearingly low-tech fireplug of yore that warned Will Robinson of encroaching danger, the new machine is all bells and whistles and no fun at all. Kinda like the movie itself.

There is admittedly much to fault in Lost in Space, from dialogue to somewhat dodgy CGI, but it will always be one of those blockbusters that millennials will remember, whether it's for nostalgic reasons or otherwise.

In the end, while a lot of the complaints are justified, perhaps the critics were a little overly-harsh overall. It's hard to say that it was entirely successful at trying to bring back the classic premise, but it still offers up a fair amount of fun.

Great cast, a movie I remember liking as a kid but having watched it these many years later, Oye! The only thing that pushed this movie along was it's actors.

Despite it's flaws I have a lot of time for this movie. The cast are excellent and I love the costume styles and set designs. It was a shame it didn't perform well enough to garner a sequel.

revisiting this film years after first seeing it, i have to state categorically the current rating of 25% is far too high. The character of Dr Smith is converted into a monster for no reason, since he was more scary as a human anyway. The interpretation of Will and Smith's relationship raises the bar a millimeter to what it was in the show. The supporting actors are nothing more than background furniture to provide exposition. The plot doesn't make sense and the resolution is dull and unsatisfying. The acting, except for the reliable Gary Oldman is phoned in by skilled actors and delivered like a lost uber driver by the rest. I can't understand why it isn't on the lists of worst films made. Maybe because of the special effects? And that deserves half a star.
