Jagdpanzer T @RT44446946 Jul 14 As a romcom The Proposal is a bit of a missed opportunity. The premise, the setting, the leads, etc. are all good but there's a few things that really hurt the film as a whole. The first and most obvious one is the overutilization of Betty White. No one is watching this movie to see her hog all the screen time. Literally every time the leads start advancing their relationship in a satisfying way out pops Betty White to ham it up with the same tiresome "old lady without a filter" schtick that we've all seen a thousand times before. As a result the relationship between the main characters ends up feeling rushed and even a little forced by the end. This is especially disappointing since their chemistry is actually pretty good. Other things that hurt the movie (much in the same way) are pointless scenes like the male stripper scene or the ones that touched on the strained father and son relationship which really added nothing to the story. Worth a watch, but could have been better.
