Here's the revelation: Miley Cyrus is a really interesting movie star in the making, with an intriguing echo-of-foghorn speaking voice, and a scuffed-up tomboyish physicality (in the Kristen Stewart mode) that sets her apart from daintier girls. Aug 13 I love this movie, Miley Cyrus is beautiful and has serious acting chops. Im a 51 year old guy that hunts and fishes I have a beard and I am a masculine guy. I cried at this movie. Greg Kinnear is a masterful actor. Its a classic movie and telling of life's hard problems and unavoidable tests. Love is the most important thing. The movie has some hokey writing and cheesy moments, but the issue is that the story just isn't that good. I think there are better romance movies, even the ones on the sappier side. I think Miley Cyrus has become an outstanding musician over time, but this movie was sort of a sign that her acting career might not really take off down the line. The movie has a sweetness and innocence that can be likable, but I still found myself just too bored and uninvested to truly get into this one. Overall, it is a movie that feels like it has the potential to be more, but mostly plays it safe and stays surface-level, never really engaging the audience on a deeper level. However, she didn't do half bad, which is not the compliment an actor would want to hear. The emotional beats didn't deliver, but the overall movie experience wasn't too bad if you aren't looking for too much. And why do I wonder how it would have turned out with Hayden Panatierre as the lead? She's 3 years older than Miley in real life, but I believe she looked like a teenager at the time.
