Faced with an unresponsive mother and a criminal father, Ozark teenager Ree Dolly does what she can to manage the household and take care of her two younger siblings. Informed by the sheriff that their father put their home up for bond and then disappeared, Ree sets out on a dangerous quest to find him. Her entire family's fate now in her hands, Ree challenges her outlaw kin's code of silence and risks her life to learn her father's fate.

The Coen Brothers' O Brother Where Art Thou? was the last film to make such delirious use of mountain music. The rest of the world can start drooling over Lawrence. I'm gonna git me a copy of that soundtrack.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Not exactly a ‘up’ film, this dismal slice of what life is like at the bottom of the social pecking order is raised to a form of art rarely attempted in popular movies, catapulting relative unknown, John Hawkes, elevating him to leading man status (whose work, I was heretofore unfamiliar) It’s the first glimpse of the massive talent of Jennifer Lawrence in a stark world with which few are familiar

I knew from watching this film that JLaw would be born a star. The bluish tones of this film and the rural setting truly buffer the storytelling. 1 Top notch dramatic thriller!
