Jun 26, 2010 Splendedly perverse Soviet movie about young soldiers who get wet, lose their clothes, and die, with amazing repetition for 65 minutes, The dialogue is as sparing as the uniforms. Contains poetic violence, male nudity and some rather lingering camera shots... See more

Jul 7, 2009 Thought provoking and quite disturbing. I felt cold all over for most of the film and the homoerotic nature of it is evident. See more

Jan 26, 2009 I know I don't get the story, don't even know if there is one, but the representation of what it was like (as far as movies portray truth) to be in the Soviet army is intriguing. Dec 7, 2006 (**): This film is not awful at all. I just felt that there was too much subtext and symbolism in the film and I just didn't get what most of it meant. I like that it still was made against the pressure of Russian censorship but maybe a second viewing might change my mind. Plus, the film is only about 70 minutes so it didn't bother me too much.
