Fifty T @RT01421419 1 day ago A Blueprint for Modern Noir It is fascinating to see how a film like Point Blank can feel simultaneously like a relic and a blueprint. This is an undeniably stylish piece of noir that, while visually arresting, suffers from a narrative that feels somewhat thin by modern standards. Executed with a precision that was clearly decades ahead of its time, the film's influence on the genre is palpable. John Boorman's direction is solid, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that elevates the straightforward revenge plot. Lee Marvin delivers a commanding performance as the relentless Walker; it is a rare treat to see him in a singular lead role where his physical presence does most of the heavy lifting. While this might have been an 8/10 masterpiece sixty years ago, it settles into a respectable 6.5/10 today... a well-acted, expertly directed classic that is perhaps more memorable for its style than its story. This film was remade 30 years latter with Mel Gibson. However this is just great and needs to be watched. See more Tony S @RT22145614 Oct 13, 2026 A revenge thiller and it was okay. See more Ashequl I @Tofa13 Jul 19, 2026 Point Blank is a highly underrated 1967 crime thriller that serves as a blueprint for the modern revenge genre. Grounded by a phenomenal, cold-as-ice performance from Lee Marvin, the screenplay takes a straightforward story of a man betrayed by his wife and best friend and elevates it into a dreamlike, relentless hunt for justice. The narrative pacing is excellent, keeping you completely engaged as the protagonist systematically dismantles a corporate crime syndicate, leading to a fantastic final twist. While the avant-garde background score can occasionally feel jarring and the repetitive backstory flashbacks slightly hamper the narrative flow, they don't destroy the film's incredible, hard-boiled experience. An atmospheric and essential piece of 60s cinema. See more Bruce W @spiffify Jun 23, 2026 If you enjoy movies without an ending, you'll love this one. Really lame screenplay that leaves the viewer wondering if they ran out of film, or if they ran out of money prior to completion. But this wasn't some struggling film noir studio on the brink of insolvency, it was made by MGM so it couldn't have been either. Clearly the ending was intentional, and it was so disappointing it killed any chance of a sequel to finish the story. See more Max M. @Househuntermax Apr 25, 2026 Great Parker adaptation. Production quality is just OK though. But if you wanna see Lee Marvin smack people around for an hour and a half this is your movie. See more Read all reviews
