Suzy (Jessica Harper) travels to Germany to attend ballet school. When she arrives, late on a stormy night, no one lets her in, and she sees Pat (Eva Axén), another student, fleeing from the school. When Pat reaches her apartment, she is murdered. The next day, Suzy is admitted to her new school, but has a difficult time settling in. She hears noises, and often feels ill. As more people die, Suzy uncovers the terrifying secret history of the place.

What lingers is not a sense of evil but exhilaration in how far Argento and his fellow filmmakers were willing to go to shock and delight; the movie's sheer exuberance is the cinematic equivalent of a blood transfusion.

Argento accomplishes so much simply through lighting and music - which goes a long way to compensate for the stilted dialogue and awkward character interactions.

The dialogue is kind of goofy at times, but to me, that is part of the charm. My problem with Suspiria is that with a run time of only an hour and 40 minutes, it somehow feels like a 2 hour + movie.

The bold visuals, haunting music, and surreal atmosphere make it a classic of the genre. It also has really great psychological and horror aspects that make it stand out from others.

This was such a great horror film. I like the fact that it keeps to basic and simple. Not to mention visual were pretty cool see. Overall, this was really good horror movie.

The film has a soundtrack of creepy ballet music which I believe definitely helps to tell this story. Along with this comes some echoes from the so posed "witches" giving it more of a feeling of a fantasy or mystery. At some points the acting and special effects may be a little bit on the cheesy side of things. However, the film still has an interesting story line that makes the cheesy acting and props add onto the fantasy element.

What I really enjoyed from this film was the cinematography, the colors, the music, and the eerie vibe, which pulled me in. There were some disturbing scenes, but it wasn't the best horror film either.

Synopsis
