Alfredo P @RT03403867 Oct 17, 2026 The only praise I give Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes are the make-up effects he's put within the apes. Everything else here is just boring. It doesn't have any personality the first time I watched it. And the ending literally makes no sense, even after experiencing everything I saw. If you're curious on watching a Planet of the Apes movie, just watch the very original or the recently rebooted timeline. See more Paul S @PManRager Oct 13, 2026 I've always heard how bad this movie was, and my curiosity drove me to watch it. In all honesty, I don't believe it is the horrid piece of media that people claim it to be. There were a lot of parts that deviated from the original that really hurt how good this movie could've been, and there were other parts that felt way weirder than they needed to be. Having said that, I still really enjoyed watching the movie, and the story and visuals were captivating enough to keep me watching. It's not perfect, but I'd still say this was a good movie, and it was definitely entertaining. I definitely recommend this for sci-fi, action, and adventure fans! See more diogo13 T @Tua_mera Jul 11, 2026 The makeup work is a masterpiece and Tim Roth is an incredible villain. Unfortunately, the movie fails at everything else: Mark Wahlberg has zero charisma, the original's political subtext is completely gone, and that ape Abraham Lincoln ending makes absolutely no sense. It’s only worth it for the visuals, because the script is an absolute jungle of nonsense. See more doug B @RT51901769 Jul 6, 2026 Thought it was well done. F the critics. See more Chris S @Janomi Jun 14, 2026 Directed by Tim Burton, Planet of the Apes (2001) is often remembered as a divisive remake, but there is more to appreciate here than it is sometimes given credit for. Burton's visual style creates a distinctive version of the ape world that feels different from both the original film and later reboots. The makeup and creature effects remain among the movie's greatest strengths, bringing the apes to life with an impressive level of detail and personality. Mark Wahlberg is a serviceable lead, though the character lacks the depth. Tim Roth fully embraces the role of General Thade, delivering a memorable villain performance, while Paul Giamatti provides some welcome humor. The action sequences and production design are entertaining, but the story never reaches the thematic depth of the 1968 classic. Despite an intriguing setup, the narrative feels uneven, and the ending remains controversial. See more Brighton N @RT09904023 May 30, 2026 In the end, I must be honest: I can't stand this film. It is far and away the worst of the franchise, and I'm glad they scrapped it and took time before making new films to have that time to brew up new, good ideas. This is one of my least favorite movies I've watched, and I barely made it to the end. While I understand some of the elements that people state are commendable about the film, I would never recommend watching this to anybody but my worst enemy. All right, toxic ex-girlfriend and high school band teacher, you can watch this film immediately. But everyone else? Avoid this like the plague.
