A group of teenage girls, coming of age in Brooklyn, navigates the ephemeral and fleeting transition between childhood and adulthood. Shot over a three-year period, it is a meditation on the mysterious, often painful, yet ultimately exhilarating period of a teen's life. These city girls, raised where everything moves fast, appear savvy and sophisticated, but their Brooklyn attitudes can't obliterate the baseline insecurities, fears and awkwardness shared by teens across the globe.

Critics Consensus

All This Panic offers an unvarnished look at the lives of young American women whose less compelling moments are more than balanced out by documentarian Jenny Gage's empathetic approach.

On top of being entertaining, illuminating, and affecting, the film is beautifully shot -- with gorgeous, hazy light and painterly framing -- it looks like a narrative feature.

There is honesty in All This Panic that is both relatable and somewhat shocking, and for female viewers in their 20s and 30s especially, these girls are recognizable and sympathetic.

The nostalgia for youth is a powerful lure, but All This Panic's greatest appeal is in the entertaining, empathetic and warm way these personal sagas are told.

Captures an innocence, normalcy, and authenticity that this age group rarely earns from documentary.

Director Jenny Gage, obviously cares about what teenage girls think and feel - and she wants viewers to, as well.

I seriously couldnt tell most of these girls apart, so I had a pretty confusing time trying to keep track of which story belonged to who. Didnt help that their hair styles kept changing! Okay, I admit I have a bit of a problem in my life recognizing faces. Documentary wasnt bad. The girls lives werent super interesting for the most part, some little dramas and life choices. Mostly liked it despite my confusion.

Resulta interesante la historia de estas chicas pero el desarrollo es muy confuso y no se explota a fondo las vivencias de estas adolescentes en su tránsito a la madurez.

Great snippets of gem and free form but directionless, in a way mirroring the subjects.

OK... Something happened to the Hubby and Wife duo on this movie. Hubby lost so much interest in this 79 minute slog he didn't feel it would be fair to put in a score so you're stuck with wife. Here's the bottom line. This is only for a select few: those near a city (the documentary follows girls in New York City, but any city will do), females (males may enjoy it, but will more than likely find it pretentious), and under the age of 30 (or have kids around or near the age of he girls in the movie). If you don't connect to all three of those you probably won't get this movie and I wouldn't blame you. It's a candid look at girls who were followed by cameras for three years, that are high school aged at the start. If you find yourself in the targeted audience above dive in, if not.... save yourself the 79 minutes because you won't make it to the end. Final Score: Hubby: Went on the internet halfway through/Wife: 8.1 Final Score: 8.1
