Dakota Johnson is aces as a late bloomer coming out in her 30s. The touchingly personal script by Lauren Pomerantz is funny as hell, but it’s her delicacy of feeling that sneaks up and floors you. Something special is going on here. Treasure it.

Am I OK? is warm, funny, and quietly heartfelt. Dakota Johnson brings so much charm and awkward honesty to Lucy that you can’t help but root for her. The friendship dynamics feel real, and the late-in-life self-discovery is handled with care and humor. I loved the journey and the vibe of the film — it just fumbled a bit at the ending.
