AMERICAN DOCTOR is a vérité non-fiction film following three prominent physicians--Palestinian, Jewish and Zoroastrian--friends who couldn't be more different but are bound by their shared oath to save lives. Dr. Thaer Ahmad is measured and strategic, Dr. Mark Perlmutter is blunt and wears his heart on his sleeve, and Dr. Feroze Sidhwa is media-savvy and prolific. Filmed in unfolding, on-the-ground scenes, the story follows them from a Gazan hospital under siege, to the halls of Congress. Together they fight to keep a promise to their Palestinian colleagues and patients, to continue the struggle where it matters most: the United States.

The human brain can hear a term like "hospital bombing" and push it aside, but it's very different when you see it happening, when the camera is inside the hospital and you see the results.

We come to admire Ahmad, Perlmutter and Sidhwa, but Teng provides just enough shading so that subtle cultural tensions between the men start to emerge.

“American Doctor” unflinchingly takes us into a hospital that should be a safe haven, but in reality is anything but (and that goes for patients, doctors and staff). This is a film that will stay with you after you exit the theater.

To say that I enjoyed American Doctor would be false. I didn't enjoy a minute of it. American Doctor isn't the kind of film you enjoy. American Doctor is the kind of film your memory clings to and refuses to forget.

We used to live in a world where blowing up hospitals was considered a moral atrocity. Now it’s routine.

Every tax-paying American needs to see this documentary. This film opened up my eyes to the atrocities happening in Gaza at the hands of the IDF, and the funding of American tax payers. These doctors are operating in unimaginable conditions with broken X-ray machines, drone strikes overhead, a constant flow of young children coming in injured by shrapnel, etc. I saw images that I cannot ever forget, scenes that the western media will not show. Also seeing the juxtaposition of the lives of the American doctors with what they experience in Gaza against seeing the safe homes they come back to in the U.S. Meanwhile the Palestinian doctors are losing family members, and showing up to work every day with no respite. A must see.

An undeniable on the ground look at two American surgeons who travel to Gaza and do their best to help wounded Palestinians. It shows how the American media works to skew the truth in the face of people reporting first hand what they experienced. If you want to see heroes and the struggle they face as well as the real story without the spin, this movie will show you.

It’s very moving and informative. I think it’s a must see for everyone. This documentary needs to be shown everywhere because there are people who still refuse to acknowledge genocide is happening. I left the theater in tears.

As a medical professional I felt it was my duty to watch this film. So incredibly emotional. Free Palestine.
