It doesn’t all work. Iris and Arco are slightly bland, and a third-act chase sequence seems superfluous. But the bleak ending, the key character killed and the brutal twist? Bravo! Go to Full Review

This is primary-colour, major-key storytelling. It is disarming, charming and unafraid to be sincere – especially when it comes to the sparks of inspiration, creativity and connection that are so fundamental to human existence. Go to Full Review

For a film about the inevitable eradication of most life on Earth, Arco isn’t as depressing as you might expect, as it finds a tiny thread of optimism to hold on to. Go to Full Review

It’s dystopian without ever calling attention to the dystopia, and that is rather clever on Bienvenu’s part. Go to Full Review

Joseph O Feb 22 It was an pretty good movie, something I would definitely watch, but I would not pay to see it in a theater. I would just wait for it to be on a streaming service. Some of the premise was creative, about life in the future mostly, but that was a small part of the plot. The animation style and the bittersweet ending reminded me of Japanese films. The one sticking point was the main characters were children but were more like adults at times. It reminded me of a live action actor trying to play someone much younger than their real life age but was not quite able to pull it off. The story is so well crafted and not your typical fast paced animated film. When my daughter saw the preview she was not interested, but I talked her into to watching it and we are so glad we did.
