When a retired opera singer leaves her inheritance to her cat, Duchess (Eva Gabor), and three kittens, the woman's butler drugs the cats and abandons them in the countryside in order to inherit the fortune himself. Lost in unfamiliar territory, Duchess and the kittens meet Thomas O'Malley (Phil Harris), an alley cat willing to help them return to their home in Paris. They meet several kooky characters along the way, including two English geese and an alley cat jazz band.

The Aristocats is in there with the good ones. It is light and pleasant and funny, the characterization is strong, and the voices of Phil Harris and Eva Gabor are charming in their absolute rightness.

While the animation is cute and the film creates an incredibly likable main cast of characters each with their own unique personality and presence, the narrative is incredibly basic and lacks any deeper dimension when it comes to purpose or poignance.

The last feature film produced with Walt's direct approval. The kittens are cute, but it is a rather forgettable film compared to other Disney classics.

The Aristocats is a decently good animated Disney movie, sure the story can confusing at times but at least the heart is in the right place, the animation is easily the the true highlight of the film with some of the best visuals on the big screen, sure the characters can be one dimensional but at the very least have a lot of charm to then not to mention that the songs are great as well, so overall this movie isn't the best that came out of the year 1970 but it's still decent regardless.

This is my childhood movie that I watched all the time and even made my love for cats blossom. The acting, the scenes, the way you could see the sketch lines and know that this whole movie was created with a simple pencil and paper is magnificent. They truly put their heart and soul into this movie in which you can tell. I don't see why anyone wouldn't like it, it's a romantic action movie involving cats, who wouldn't want that? Still to this day I watch it and even as of right now I have my own mother cat and kittens with the daddy. Please if you are thinking about watching this movie, do it with a partner or your very own pets or just by yourself, it doesn't matter.
