When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman (Billy Bob Thornton) determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis), who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocksure A.J. (Ben Affleck), who Harry thinks isn't good enough for his daughter (Liv Tyler), until the mission proves otherwise.

Armageddon is slam-bang sensory overkill. It's loud. It's heavy-handed. It's melodramatic. It's an explosion of baroque excess that splats on the screen and bludgeons the audience into a collective migraine. It's the best American movie of the year.

Armageddon isn't made for grown-ups, and it isn't made for kids, either; I'm not sure it's made for human beings, period. It's a banal, mechanical film, replete with cheap patriotism and bogus sentiment.

Armageddon is such a weird movie for me, for one its beautiful and has a topic that has me geeking, on the other hand it is so obvious its from 1998 in every way, its also a really refreshing way to end a movie, great way to end the worst year of my life, 8/10 for all the wrong reasons

A lot of action and humor. The plot was ridiculous of course. Just a lot of fun to watch. Some big names were in the flick, which was an attraction, but the dialogue and plot didn’t really give them much to work with.

This is the worst movie I have ever seen. This movie forever soured for me anything Michael Bay related. Terrible writing. Predictable and boring. Had this movie not been hyped up the way it was before my watching, we may be having a different conversation...but alas, I was promised the world and given dust in return.

Synopsis
