ASK E. JEAN is the thrilling story of E. Jean Carroll’s life, from her early days as Miss Cheerleader USA to her rise as a trailblazing journalist, author, and beloved advice columnist. Carroll broke barriers as the first female editor at Esquire, Playboy, and Outside, helping to redefine women’s roles in media with her sharp wit and fearless voice. In recent years, she reignited public discourse by standing up to power, becoming the only woman to beat Donald Trump twice in court, and sparking a national conversation about truth, accountability, and resilience. This film is a portrait of an indomitable woman who proved it’s never too late to reclaim your voice, rewrite your story, and change the world.

Ask E Jean is a solid, unshowy piece of factual film-making... Fortunately, Carroll is a fascinating and mercurial subject.

It is a very important portrait of a woman standing up against the system which is clearly loaded against her.

Many people will only know Carroll through the stock imagery of legal cases, a figure with a blonde bob and sunglasses, pictured outside court. What you don’t hear in those photos is a great American voice, at once brisk and drawling.

...Because the violent offences of a man will often be more important than artistic achievements. Ask E. Jean lays the foundation that there's more to [E. Jean Carroll] that is worth remembering and celebrating.

All told, “Ask E. Jean” presents an enlightening look at a self-described “eccentric personality,” as well as a window into a media world that, like America’s Talking, no longer exists.

Meeropol films Carroll’s legal drama in a relatively straightforward style. But Carroll’s personal story is a more complicated, at times even contradictory one, and "Ask E. Jean" is a more intriguing film for that.

A delightful surprise of a documentary. E. Jean Carroll is worth meeting. Her spirit comes shining through - honest about her mistakes and fears - and always looking for the positive. A celebration of women and the MeToo movement.

Wonderful documentary that tells the story of E Jean Carroll - a remarkable woman who decided it's always the right time to speak truth to power. She proves that we absolutely can upend the current state of "the loudest liar wins" and that sometimes, fashion is a legal strategy. See it while it's in Theaters!

Feels less like a normal documentary and more like sitting down with someone who’s lived a very wild, very honest life. Surprisingly entertaining too.

An incredible and absorbing story and personality! I wish everyone could see this film. E. Jean’s life from Indiana University cheerleader to Gonzo journalist to her own TV advice show. Enthralling and inspiring.
