Sep 14, 2017 There were things I liked about this movie including the artistic style, little imbedded stories, landscapes (dunes), and a look at a foreign culture. I felt at ease and an emotional fulfillment from the wisdom of the Bab Aziz character. I'm not sure about the symbolism with some of the characters stories especially the curly red haired guy falling in the well and the straight red haired guy who sporadically showed up. I believe there was supposed to be a message about love and faith, but it got muddled for me. I want to know more about sand and softness factor. It is a beautiful film worth checking out. See more

Dec 5, 2015 Our Daily Free Stream: Bab'Aziz (engl. subt.). Aug 2, 2013 Another film in the very subordinate 'slow movement' - how films used to be: more poetic, ambient, intelligent, & broader in spectrum. I'm happy I'm not too busy to appreciate this kind of thing: a film that makes the desert seem like the place to be. It's a really funny film too, yet there's no need to make a show of it & laugh out loud. My kind of deep, feel-good film. Critics: watch it over, you cunts. See more

Jan 24, 2013 Director Nacer Khemir traces the profound journey of a young girl and her blind grandfather into the desert as they search for a legendary gathering of elders in an unknown location. Bab'Aziz is a noble dervish who, along with his spirited granddaughter Ishtar, has been invited to attend a special gathering that is said to take place somewhere deep in the dunes of the eternal desert. There are no directions to the location of the gathering, however, as it is said that those who are meant to attend will certainly find their way. As Bab'Aziz and Ishtar set out to find their destiny through the strength of their intuition and the power of their faith, Bab'Aziz imparts the tale of an ancient prince who once made a similar pilgrimage to his beloved granddaughter. Along the way, Ishtar will learn the value of patience, and both will encounter a series of fellow travelers whose remarkable stories help to unlock ancient mysteries and provide a better understanding of their barren kingdom. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi See more
