When you want to make a movie about how American bullets end up in the hands of the Taliban, but documentaries don’t make any money, reframe the story as a mother seeking revenge for her killed-in-action son Go to Full Review

Lena Headey digs into the role of a grief-stricken, vengeance-seeking mother in this uneven drama, which isn’t quite equipped to handle all the big issues it takes on. Go to Full Review

On one hand, it bestows upon us a story of grief, of motherhood, of how far some mothers are willing to go for their children. On another hand, it’s a thought-provoking storyline that touches upon themes of war profiteering, and moral culpability (…). Go to Full Review

When I first heard about Ballistic, I worried that it would be a dumb as toast, borderline racist revenge movie. Instead, director Chad Faust made a film of great power and greater nuance. Go to Full Review

Alex A @RT09483519 4d The premise was simple: an American soldier killed by an American bullet. I expected a film about conspiracies or revenge, but instead I found a story about a mother struggling to understand why her son was taken from her, searching for whoever was responsible for his senseless death. The film offers no clear answer, leaving you to grapple with the deeper question of why wars persist and how we continue to endure their endless consequences. See more Blake D @RT55286378 5d I absolutely love Lena Headey. I could watch a 2 hour video of her just reading the phone book. The only redeeming feature this movie has is that she's in it. Otherwise, the plot is silly, and her character's arc is implausible. People who work for military contractors understand war. It's the business they're in. People with family members in the military know the risks and understand the consequences. Certainly, most any parent would be wrecked at the death of their son or daughter in action. That's logical. However, a military contractor wouldn't become unhinged, showing a total lack of understanding of the situation and going on some sort of Man On Fire or Straw Dogs revenge tour, against completely innocent characters. Revenge for what? What did these people do? It's a ridiculous premise. By the time you get halfway through the movie, you just hate her character and have no sympathy for what is an unhinged woman. Bummer, because Lena is an underrated treasure. See more Les N @Vegas628 Apr 30 Hmm. America needs a decade of normality. See more Matthew K. @RT39780529 Apr 23 This movie explores subjects and material other filmmakers would not have the guts to mention out loud. With intense violent outbursts, to conspiracy, self-loathing, anger, love; we ride the grief rollercoaster in all its stages as it's brilliantly powered by an explosive performance by Lena Hedley and the supporting cast. This is an important film people should not overlook especially with its exploration into the real-world reality in the post-Afghanistan/Iraq War United States, where parents still continue to grieve and veteran survivors question the vanity of war and the accuracy of information. The movie is worth your time, it was intense, emotional, and suspenseful, a beautiful combination of drama and thriller and something else entirely that feels like soul-searching. See more Sammer A @sammer864 Apr 17 badly made, with unverified claims, and even assuming the claims are correct, the movie still makes no sense. it's just and angry hate letter, to no one.
