Marital infidelity, child prostitution and civic corruption are bluntly (although tastefully) displayed - it just so happens that there's also a guy zipping around town in a bat suit. Go to Full Review

With an extremely short running time, it manages to capture the essence of what made the comic book work so well. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The movie looks great, with a moody use of shadows and darkness and dreary, lowdown locations. Go to Full Review

A stale adaptation of the classic Frank Miller comic. The film drowns in bad voice work and lacks the visual nuances found in the original story. Go to Full Review

diogo13 T @Tua_mera Jul 12 What a wonderful surprise this movie is! It is a fabulous and extremely faithful adaptation of the iconic comic book of the same name. The animation perfectly captures the mature, dark, and gritty tone of Bruce Wayne's early days in Gotham. However, the real highlight is the parallel journey of James Gordon, whose fight against police corruption adds tremendous dramatic weight to the story. With excellent pacing, powerful dialogue, and a fantastic urban atmosphere, it stands as one of the best and most underrated Batman animated films. See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 20 I understand that animation has become a medium to tell stories to people of all ages and maturities, but this movie feels like it's trying to be unnecessarily mature. It's definitely a hard PG-13 and stretches the boundaries of what is allowed in PG-13 movies. It's got a lot of language and uses the one f-bomb you're allowed in a PG-13 movie. There's brief nudity and a pretty large amount of blood and bloody kills. It's a little jarring to see all this happen in animation. But other than feeling like it's trying to be too mature, the movie is very good. All the voice acting is very good and the animation is also very good. The plot is good and resembles that of Matt Reave's "The Batman," which was also a hard PG-13. Overall, "Batman:Year One" is good but not great. Worth a watch if you're a big superhero fan or specifically a big fan of Batman. See more Mateo P @Feppi Jan 25 It perfectly captures the essence of the Gothic city. Great adaptation. It perfectly recreates iconic comic panels from the original; and makes minor changes to improve the story. See more Guy C @RT84656352 07/14/2025 My favorite Batman animated film since Mask of the Phantasm Bryan Cranston is great as Gordon and a great fulfilling storyline See more Mitch B @RT97279008 07/09/2025 Very faithful adaption of one of the greatest Batman stories ever told.
