Ben Russell (Chandler Riggs), an unemployed yet ambitious 24-year-old, brings his girlfriend Cassie (Samantha Isler) from Los Angeles to his rural Oregon hometown to meet his parents and siblings for the first time and spend Christmas with his family: his goofy dad Kirby (James Urbaniak), loving but stern mom Mia (Brook Hogan), aspiring vlogger younger sister Liz (Carly Stewart), and enigmatic deadbeat older brother Gordon (Jacob Wysocki). The arrival is bumpy, and the family's dynamic unearths some internal conflict Cassie is having with her relationship with Ben. A late night conversation between the couple turns into a breakup, and Cassie determines she should go home for Christmas after all. But due to the winter weather and remote rural location, Cassie learns she is unable to travel. She becomes stuck with her newly minted ex's family for the rest of the holiday.

Breakup Season offers characters who don’t always act in ways you might expect, lets the good cast of actors shine, and by the end, earns genuine emotion, with a conclusion that feels totally right.

Tracey’s first film is a stronger entry than most seasoned filmmakers who play it safe or filmmakers with more resources such as money, star power or access to a broader market thanks to connections.

This is the most ass movie ever. The acting/filming doesn’t even compare to Dhar Mann and that’s saying something.

There were parts of this movie that I enjoyed. The family was entertaining. But the story about the breakup was boring and the ending was disappointing. It was like the writer was told "You’re out of time, wrap it up." I’ve been married since 1981. I dated my wife for 4 months. Life was simpler then. People kept their vows. I think it’s sad that so many reviews think this is a good movie. It has a very cynical view of romance. Don’t be afraid to "Take a leap and build your wings on the way down."

This movie was I guess supposed to make you feel warmly about the protagonist, a woman who goes to spend Christmas with her bf's family in eastern Oregon, but who breaks up with him there. But all that came across to me was how selfish she was, and how accommodating they were to her despite her pettiness.

I don't know what's going on with these reviews but this was really bad. The acting and the writing. It could have been so dramedy but as a watcher I had no reason to care about their relationship. Very little chemistry between the cast, felt very awkward. I expect Christmas movies like these to be cheesy and silly - but this was serious and bad. Watch Baltimorons instead!!!!
