A bittersweet romp about new beginnings with another sparkling turn by Renée Zellweger, Mad About the Boy gracefully closes the book on Bridget Jones' diary.

I found Mad About the Boy tonally strange, and it left me feeling curiously depressed. Go to Full Review

Underneath pratfalls and slapstick moments is a more mature, poignant movie about moving on after the devastating loss of a loved one. Go to Full Review

Despite all the repeated gags and such, it’s charming—and more emotionally vulnerable than many of its counterparts. Go to Full Review

the film has really let these characters grow into their mature selves. Jones is finally allowed to not be consumed by frivolity, and instead allow the gravity of the film to drive her choices. It is a grown up Bridget Jones. Go to Full Review

As expected, no one doubts the ultimate romantic pairing and fortunately dalliances allow for a ridiculously appealing wet shirt scene. Go to Full Review

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is the perfect example of how to make an excellent sequel that remains true to the original material while also innovating it for the audience who might look for a deeper reflection on these very important themes Go to Full Review

Ainda assim, o filme segue divertido e envolvente See more Johann D. M @Johann33 Mar 12 The fourth installment in the Bridget Jones romantic comedy series, based on Helen Fielding's 2013 novel, follows Bridget as a widowed single mother navigating the challenges of parenthood, work, and modern dating. Along the way, she finds herself pursued by a younger man while also forming an unexpected connection with her son's teacher. This heartfelt film feels like a warm blast from the past, filled with nostalgia while carrying a bittersweet tone that is bound to move viewers. Renée Zellweger proves once again that she can return to this role anytime and still shine, delivering a charming and heartfelt performance. The May-December romance is handled with freshness and humor, and the scenes involving the science teacher are especially hilarious and endearing. The film is sprinkled with cameos from characters of the previous movies, small touches that add continuity and warmth without overwhelming the story. Smartly wrapped up and consistently entertaining. See more Julian P @JulianPoulter Mar 10 Yes I'm with the audience on this one. Great to have more Bridget Jones and some delightful directing and writing but at the end of the day the relationship between Older women and young stud is just not convincing. See more Adamah M @AdamahHazaa Feb 20 Absolutely beautiful, smart, funny, and heartbreaking. I wasn't sure how the younger love interest was going to fit, but it absolutely works. See more Jacob B @RT89309114 Feb 16 A more poignant film than preceding, it's understandable that audiences might not be receptive towards Mad About the Boy. Having the titular character widowed js likely going to rub some the wrong way though it's Bridget's dad also dying that upset me ("y u do dis" to Jim Broadbent?") plus the humour being more downplayed. Regardless, Renee Zellweger remains as charming and rootable as ever in the title role, the film handles heavy themes respectfully, in spite of yet another love triangle, the concerns about Bridget's age and being widowed make things different this time around and it's nice to see Hugh Grant again after he remained a complete no-show in the previous film. The character certainly seems to have become a bit more humble. The womanising is still there, but old habits die hard, IG. I don't think Bridget Jones 4 is as enjoyable as the odd-numbered films but it's still better than the sometimes-outlandish second film. Truly the "Star Trek Film Series" of romcoms. See more Nicole M @EvaMarine Feb 5 I love this movie. I love Bridget's personality carrying through to motherhood, getting her job back, navigating widowhood. This movie is well-acted, touching, and has the realities of family-life but with that Bridget Jones rosy-shine to it. See more Read all reviews
