Critics Consensus

Venerable action star Chow Yun-Fat is the only saving grace in this silly action flick that more often than not resembles a commercial in style.

Violent but cool martial arts movie.

The fight scenes are routine, the humor juvenile, and the Toronto locales rendered drab through muddy cinematography.

It's supremely ironic: the scroll defeats the body's natural decaying process. In today's movies, so does the computer. It's even more efficient than plastic surgery, but just as phoney.

A dippy, fantasy-fu whirligig that, despite several impressive set pieces, never consistently hits the whoa-cool levels to which it aspires.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but "Bulletproof Monk" is a rather large piece of garbage.

Now THIS movie is like the cross between a chicken wing and "The Quest" or something. Imagine the consistency of a McDouble that was made by a printer, and this is what you got. Now we can finally understand why hotdogs come in packs of 10 and the buns come in packs of 8.

Attempted to re-watch, it’s boring with a few decently choreographed action sequences. Bulletproof monk doesn’t age well period.

I think it's a very fun good story that could have been directed better. I knocked one star off for the crappy music. Mostly annoying music is actually what it is but the rest of the movie I think is very entertaining and a good story. I actually think this movie should have had a sequel it was set up to have one. Would have been good to have one.

Crippled by the PG-13 rating. Their careers have proved that Chow Yun Fat's action and Sean William Scott's comedy are at their best when they're protected by an R rating.

Not amazing but the "wire fu" and corny action are worth a watch. Great background flick.
