In the absence of any feel for intrigue, not least the potential intricacies of a husband-and-wife spook team, Johnson shuffles a deck of espionage-film cliches largely at random. Go to Full Review

CHIEF OF STATION is tense, violent, thrilling and, perhaps most rewardingly, it’s familiar and comfortable in its construction. Go to Full Review

The screenplay is by George Mahaffey and while his dialogue has a good rhythm to it, his plotting doesn't get very deep. Go to Full Review

This generic spy thriller consists of rudimentary action and chase scenes, tons of exposition as characters explain the plot to one another, and textbook twists that lack life or spark. Go to Full Review

[Chief of Station] does give Johnson a chance to flex some filmmaking muscles of a different sort... [It] isn’t going to win any awards, but it gets the job done with efficiency and precision. That’s the Jesse V. Johnson guarantee. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 5h Chief Station is an action political thriller that I expected to be much more exciting. While it kept my interest because of the political thriller elements, it didn’t fully captivate me the way I hoped it would or transition into the type of story I thought it was building toward. Aaron Eckhart delivers a strong performance, especially in roles where he portrays someone with political influence. Whether he’s playing a president, chief of staff, or another powerful figure, these types of characters seem to fit him well. The screenplay was decent, but there were several moments that could have used more detail, stronger development, and a deeper exploration of certain story elements. The film does a good job laying the foundation, but it doesn’t always deliver the impact that it feels like it was setting up. I believe there were some missed opportunities that could have been addressed during the filming or editing process. At times, it felt like the director focused on nothing. See more Cathy P @RT59554056 9h This movie was a total mess. The script was cheesy, the villains were clichéd with awful accents... seriously, don’t waste your time on this. See more Auria Parsa T @thebookwaswaybetter 2d I don’t normally write reviews but wow. I thought this was a parody movie by how bad the action sequences and "acting" was. Main bad guy is clearly seen breathing after he got "choked out". Female super agents’ room clearing technique makes you wonder how she hasn’t died yet. Also most cliche dialogue in almost every ‘tense’ scene. "You won’t get away with this". This movie shouldn’t have got away with wasting everyone’s time. Only Aaron Eckhart put forth a solid performance. Also, most predictable and boring storyline. P.S. Those Russian "mercenaries" need to go back to the gun range because my goodness See more Jo D @Bookworm0100 Feb 16 Terrible script, bad directing, horrible action scenes. Why do directors, writers, etc., think the audience is always stupid enough to just accept bad movies. As someone else already stated, people were just standing around waiting to be killed. Aaron Eckhart seems to be accepting roles in the wrong movies. Don’t waste your time watching this movie. Do something more productive like taking a nap. You’ll get more out of the nap. See more Jason L @FloridaMovieCritic Jan 9 What a terrible movie. Predictable plot, predictable bad guy. Aaron Eckhart whispers through the whole movie. Dialogue is awful. Bad guy takes off leather jacket to torture guy, then gets knocked out, then shows up again with his leather jacket back on. Geez! Even the bad guy that got stabbed twice in the neck, smacked in the face with a boat anchor and thrown overboard, shows up a few minutes later without a scratch on him. How do movies like this keep getting made? Just awful. See more Aggie T @RT00630985 Nov 30 Everyone stands there waiting to get shot. The protagonist also stands there waiting to get shot, but luckily for him, he has some miraculous force field that repels bullets. The bad guys do not. I gave it an extra star because it has Aaron Eckhart in it .. and that's always a good thing. See more Read all reviews
