Matthew D @OceanSage Mar 11 Parker Posey and the other lead actresses make Clockwatchers one of the funniest 90s films! Director Jill Sprecher’s American indie comedy-drama Clockwatchers (1997) is hysterical to me. I found it both relatable in Sprecher’s portrayal of mundane office work as well as inspiring viewers to try to find better jobs than lifeless office space style work. It’s easily one of the most relatable films I’ve ever watched, especially if you are a working class person. Writers Karen Sprecher and Jill Sprecher came up with wonderful ladies for the four main heroines that are lovely, funny, moving, depressing, endearing, and relatable. Parker Posey is hilarious and adorable as the freewheeling Margaret, who likes to live by her own rules. I adored her here. Toni Collette is amazing as the main heroine Iris, a shy new hire at this boring credit company. Lisa Kudrow is wonderful as the aspiring actress airhead Paula. Alanna Ubach’s nervous soon to be wed Jane is very lively too. See more Amy M @RT27629741 Aug 10 This was the most boring movie about work I've ever watched! The setting is very dull and generic. I initially started watching it because Lisa Kudrow and who I thought was Courtney Cox only she turned out to be a different actress I never heard of were in it. I guess it was kind of relatable, temps being the first to be accused when personal belongings go missing, but was too slow paced, only for there to be no good pay off at the end. Especially when the office theif is essentially caught there's no consequences so for me this movie was a waste of time. I didn't appreciate then the many subtle social commentaries, the poetic rhythms, and the artistry of this film. Mentally stimulating, and yet not overwhelming. The characters here are realistic but only one of them is interesting. It's not funny. It's pretty dull and not much happens. The DP did what he could with flat walls and flat lighting.
