As more star systems get swept into the Clone Wars, the valiant Jedi knights struggle to maintain order. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano embark on a mission that brings them face-to-face with Jabba the Hutt. Plotting against them is evil Count Dooku and his agent, Asajj Ventress, who would ensure that the Jedi fail. Meanwhile, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi lead the clone army against the forces of the Dark Side.

The movie should have come out midway through the animation series run, it hurt that it was the start of the series, but the movie did not start as the beginning of the Clone Wars story, it was near the beginning.

Lançado nos cinemas como um episódio piloto estendido para a subsequente série televisiva, A Guerra dos Clones falha em capturar a escala épica da saga espacial. O argumento é episódico e superficial, focando-se numa missão de resgate secundária que carece de peso dramático. Embora tenha o mérito histórico de introduzir Ahsoka Tano que se tornaria uma das personagens mais importantes da franquia, a animação digital da época é rígida e o tom excessivamente infantiloide prejudica o resultado final.
