Atmospherically eerie, with the right amount of suspense and great acting to keep audiences glued to their seat. See more Helene S @helene___ Oct 20, 2025 It reminded me of Kurosawa's other movies, about a seemingly unstoppable scourge on society spreading and leaving dead bodies in its wake. But that was the limit of my enjoyment. It made me with I was watching Pulse or Cure. It was too slow, too frustrating, and didn't have much of a point, especially at the end. I see how it could work as a book, but as a movie: not so much. See more Aluna U @RT14704568 Sep 15, 2025 Creepy, adapted from Yutaka Maekawa’s novel, is a chilling psychological thriller that blends mystery with a touch of horror through the story of a detective uncovering a series of senseless murders. While the film offers strong performances—especially from Teruyuki Kagawa—some character decisions feel illogical and frustrate viewer expectations. Despite its flaws, Creepy delivers an unsettling message about trust, curiosity, and the hidden dangers of seemingly ordinary neighbors. If you are willing and able to do so, you're in for a thoroughly engrossing, unsettling, and quietly haunting experience. Creepy is easily one of Kurosawa's most disturbing and bleak films. It's not straightforward horror, but more of a slow burn mystery/thriller filled with existential dread and despair, and accented by elements of horror. Also, as with most of Kurosawa's films, there are few, if any, concrete answers to be found. His films tend to operate on metaphors, motifs, and atmosphere rather than offer a clear-cut plot with a literal approach. If you just want thrills, this is probably not the movie for you. If you want something thought-provoking and eerie that will slowly worm its way under your skin and leave you shaken, then Creepy will not disappoint. See more Read all reviews
