Critics Consensus

Crossing Over is flagrant and heavy-handed about a situation that deserves more deliberate treatment, and joins its characters with coincidences that strain believability.

Any one of these stories, if properly fleshed out and shorn of contrivance, would have made for a perfectly serviceable film. Instead, we have lots of hysterical little bits of nothing much. Go to Full Review Wendy Ide The Times (UK) Jul 31, 2009

For anyone who felt that Crash was too subtle and self-effacing, I recommend Crossing Over, a multi-stranded, heavy handed exploration of the issues surrounding immigration and US citizenship. Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Sep 4, 2023

It deserved at least AVERAGE. The acting was acceptable. The dialogue was suitable. The screenwriting was achievable. What's the problem?!? This is called a DRAMA movie. I don't think this generation of movie goers are used to a DRAMA movie See more Julie D @RT77282042 Mar 2, 2024 I disagree with the "critics". This movie is completely believable and also, excellent casting and acting. I found it to be moving and inspiring. See more Read all reviews
