Critics Consensus

What makes Dan Brown's novel a best seller is evidently not present in this dull and bloated movie adaptation of The Da Vinci Code.

By the end, the film degenerates into wishy-washy relativism of the school that says "the only thing that matters is what you believe", a real cop-out after the hectic Grail quest preceding it. Go to Full Review Amy Nicholson I.E. Weekly May 14, 2009

Jovan H @Tokito Oct 27, 2026 I love this movie it really makes you think See more Zoe O @Bizkit Oct 24, 2026 I liked it. 😌 See more Olivia H @Livvy_h Oct 19, 2026 The film is too simplified compared to the novel, which makes the mystery and the codes less interesting and complex. Sophie's role is also reduced in the film, which I feel is a mistake. Audrey Tautou is great and would've been a much more interesting character if she had more to do. See more Gareth V @geewah Oct 13, 2026 The Da Vinci Code is a rare movie that manages to make secret societies, hidden bloodlines and a body on the Louvre floor feel dull. See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 8, 2026 This is not a good movie! See more Durga prasad D @RT26327831 Sep 6, 2026 A classic masterpiece. I came across the movie as a child, which brought out the curiosity to learn and know history. Unfortunately, i couldn't pursue that one yet whenever i rewatch this that kindle moment of learning and understanding the history get through me. And of course it's a fictional one yet how much does this have impact on you describe the rest. See more Read all reviews
