Critics Consensus

Stylistically anarchic and spiritedly played, Daisies is a liberating rebuke of polite society that will bring the rebel out of viewers who are up for the freewheeling ride.

The film, from the point of view of the rebellious and highly politically charged chaos within the visual arts, is tremendously significant and highly enjoyable. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Could Czech New Wave filmmaker Věra Chytilová have anticipated how her 1966 masterwork Daisies would resonate with the twenty-first century influencer aesthetic of Instagram and TikTok? Possibly. Go to Full Review

A feminist triumph, Chytilová’s film satirizes the bourgeoisie, authoritarianism, and the patriarchy, all while being unabashedly girly. Go to Full Review

Kyle M @RT77296778 5d The manifested societal defiance is neatly poetic and satirically grasped but fashionably bland when the surreal aspects appear disjointed which sucks the flings as hollow as incoherently advised towards a questionably expressed deliverance. (B-) See more Mix R @Foxxxy Mar 19 Ambitious, entertaining and surprisingly well-acted. Loved the aesthetics. See more Felix T @rbf01245 Feb 11 Can't get anything out of this "film". Watching 10 minutes of it is same as watching the entirety of the film. See more Yoju T @RT48673324 Nov 28 This movie is a bird’s eye view of the human condition. The Maries despair over the rotten state of the world and cope through nihilistic debauchery in satirical situations. At the end of the day, they realize, as we all must, that creation must exceed destruction, and endeavor to put things to rights and leave things better instead of worse than they found them. Unfortunately, their own actions come back around and lead to their demise, but such is life. When the credits roll, I feel inspired to do what I can for the betterment of the world around me instead of engaging in vices fatalistically. Visually stunning and incredibly engaging. See more Lexi A @RT08102300 Nov 20 I've heard a lot of different things about this movie. For example, some people liked it. On the other hand, a lot of people didn't like it. Some people said it was an ordeal while others have said that it is 'anarchic'. To be completely honest with you, it's kind of boring. I like the spirit or idea of it but it's a kind of a snooze. You might need a cup of coffee for this one. The fact that it's Czech and artsy and feminist is nice, but it's not enough. Thinking about watching it? I say, think again. See more O g @RT76089177 Sep 29 Some intriguing elements and subtext but rating 1* for enjoyment because I found the style an ordeal. The best I can say for it is it won't go down well if you're an INTJ See more Read all reviews
