A group of armed robbers fleeing the police head for the New Jersey Tunnel and run right into trucks transporting toxic waste. The spectacular explosion that follows results in both ends of the tunnel collapsing and the handful of people who survived the explosion are now in peril. Kit Latura is the only man with the skill and knowledge to lead the band of survivors out of the tunnel before the structure collapses.

The opening's got a great fiery explosion and Stallone puts in another earnest, sympathetic performance, but all else in Daylight feels designed to annoy the audience into submission.

The survivors are a shrill, ungrateful lot, so Latura might as well have stayed home and watched Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot for the umpteenth time.

Wonder if this is the Sly movie Zach would phobe? Cobra formula runs rampant again in this, cliffhanger under the city, redemption town. Phile with snacks and a long message left on a recorder. The territory beyond id still out there.

Greetings from Lithuania. I've always had a soft spot for "Daylight" (1996) since i saw it way back in 1997. This is by no means is a great movie - no, but its made well enough to recommend it to anyone looking for solid a disaster flick. At running time 1 h 45 min this movie is very well paced. Its always on the move, always engaging and always entertaining. Performances were solid enough to keep you involved. Script while a bit basic, still is good enough to keep you engaged. And directing by Robb Cohen was a thing that cemented it all together. Music is really good here. Overall, i will choose "Daylight" over many of disaster movies that came before and after 1996 simply because this movie is entertaining enough and kept me entertained during its run time. One does not need to looks for deep characterizations or plot in movies like this. "Daylight" does work because its a disaster movie and doesn't try to be many things at the same time. Good film.

Best scene is Stallone grappling down through the tunnel fans. But the whole thing kinda drags...doesn't help that they couldn't make the trapping of the tunnel more realistic.

The cliches here were tired 30 years ago when it came out but the real problem is that the set-up is so dull. There's only so much you can do with a collapsing tunnel.
