It reminded Clint Eastwood, the movie Monster( with Charlize Theron's excellent actings), and David Lynch. The theme is very confused, too. Love? Money? Bank robbery? Nicole casting was right, really? Often seen overactings as I have not been touched by her actings. I have never seen the kind of helpless and powerless detective. Sometimes the score of rotten tomato is not right. I am pretty sure this is the one of cases. See more Par H @Parhwy Jun 2 Destroyer (2018) is a 121-minute-long American crime/thriller my niece loaned me from her collection which I saw in June 2026. I began this film knowing nothing about it other than Nicole Kidman was on the cover; didn’t even read the blurb, didn’t know the run-time… Kidman’s gait and make-up is quite startling, it isn’t enough to warrant a high rating. The camera giving us her intense eyes all the time is not; she is not Dirty Harriet. The tough guy stuff unsuspends disbelief because she looks like she’d break walking into a breeze. She is unlikeable and unsympathetic in most scenes. The present/flashbacks staircase we are guided through feels like a levelled gamer: boss 1, boss 2, boss 3, final boss. I did enjoy the acting and scripting of the lawyer scene (well, the lawyer and his scripting: "Brian, elbow down. God damn it"). The ending is a rug-pull. That mommy-daughter scene near the end is meh. 121 minutes needing 30 minutes weeding. Rewatch? No. Recommend? No. 4/10. See more Enrique C @RT61871193 Apr 19 The movie blows every boundary of minimal plausibility. The character never emerges from an overacted portrayal of dysfunctional post trauma. The only suspense lies in waiting for her to be booted from work, which to the movie's discredit, she never does. She is not conflicted, struggling with her demons; she is a disgusting failure to any sense of duty . The old story of the impaired police person carrying her/his guilt while attempting a recovery has been done so well so many times. Her unremitting sway walking, whispering everything with upward gazing is revolting. Dirty Harry, Pacino, Denzel, have played the maverick cop in great manner.
