The horror movie Diabolic has some scenes that drag, and some of the acting isn’t very good. However, the story is strong enough to keep viewers interested with plot twists and suspenseful scares. Go to Full Review

It may have an outlandish premise, but the execution is solidly by the book, and the film struggles to carve out a space for itself with these two competing ideals. Go to Full Review

Diabolic is an ungodly, shockingly incoherent mess that falls flat even by the standards of empty genre exercise. Go to Full Review

Daniel J. Philips’ Diabolic is slow-burn religious horror that eventually finds its monstrous (and gory) footing. Go to Full Review

An effective slow-burn horror that takes its time escalating -- but it does get there. I found the character psychology kind of pat, and one late revelation ridiculous. But this is otherwise a decent, sober-sided possession tale. Go to Full Review

With too many flat characters and not enough creativity, Diabolic misses the mark. Go to Full Review

Matthew H. @OhMatty 3d Finally a truly frightening movie. A must watch for possession film lovers. See more Cory S. @Gator78 Mar 13 Diabolic had all the ingredients for something decent on paper: a moody atmosphere, a solid cast, and a premise that promised psychological tension mixed with supernatural dread. Unfortunately, it never quite cooks. The first act actually builds some intrigue—creepy visuals, unsettling sound design, and a lead performance that feels genuinely haunted. I was invested enough to think this could go somewhere interesting. But once the plot kicks into gear, it just collapses under its own weight. Visually it’s competent (some genuinely striking shots), and the acting is better than the material deserves, but that’s not enough to save a story this sloppy and hollow. It wants to be profound and terrifying but ends up feeling like a tired retread of better films, without anything fresh or memorable to say. Worth a watch if it’s on streaming and you’re bored, but don’t go out of your way. Disappointing. See more Katherine V. @katandkaz Mar 9 Had everything I look for in a horror movie. See more nilufer E @Nilicim Mar 8 It actually wasn’t bad. The story kept things fairly entertaining, but the performances could have been stronger, and the makeup effects often looked more artificial than scary. Still, it turned out to be a decent watch overall. See more Jeepers C @RT12312147 Mar 6 I have seen too many really good possession and folk horror movies to be wooed by Diabolic. When you have seen movies like The Exorcist, The Witch, The Possession of Emily Rose, When Evil Lurks, Terrified, this one feels kinda generic. , See more Jerod S @jeroduptown Mar 4 Premise had me, but the execution of evil amidst the mormons didn't go like it could've. The baptistry set in the middle of nowhere was a bad move. See more Read all reviews
