This haunting thriller and study of the psychology of grief is one of the most accomplished, and most troubling, films by the British director Nicolas Roeg. Go to Full Review Molly Haskell Village Voice Apr 20, 2022
It is a film in which everything seems to have been sacraficed for pictorial effect. Go to Full Review Paul D. Zimmerman Newsweek Feb 10, 2022
Roeg, for all his artiness and tricks, succeeds in creating a dark and frightening experience unlike anything ever filmed. Go to Full Review Sarah Boslaugh TheArtsStl Jan 25, 2025

Don’t Look Now is a textbook example of using visual motifs to unify a film (maybe to a fault from today’s point of view...) Go to Full Review Michael Calleri Niagara Gazette Dec 29, 2023
The extraordinarily tense and relentlessly unnerving "Don't Look Now" creates its fear especially by highlighting events that can’t be explained. It is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve seen. Go to Full Review Noah Gittell Washington City Paper Oct 27, 2023
Despite being known for its lurid sex scene, Nicolas Roeg’s 1973 film avoids Hollywood sensationalism while making grief into a monster. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Robert P @Superbad 6 days ago Don't Look Now is a *4* star Movie! See more David M @vicardave Oct 16, 2026 This haunting classic fully deserves its lofty reputation. Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland are the married couple trying to survive and navigate the zenith of parental nightmares. It's a brilliantly constructed, superbly shot and edited film about grief, watching, looking, and being watched, and paranoia. Venice - where most of the film is set - is not the tourist destination, but rather shot to resemble a film noir type city of labyrinthine routes, and haunting shadows; the second half is suffused with an almost unbearable razor-wire tension, and the film's use of colour in general and red specifically adds to the sense of a brilliant malevolant entity stalking the protaganists. Sutherland stands out in a cast at the top of their game, and the whole thing is brilliantlhy steered and orchestrated by Roeg. See more B P @Bradster69 Sep 20, 2026 Definitely Recommend It See more Chris H @RT60525826 Jul 28, 2026 Excellent and very unsettling, but slow in parts; I guess it gives you time to drink it all in. The beginning is extremely upsetting but if you can get past that it's a clever and well acted piece of work. See more B. W @Walter773 Jul 12, 2026 Possibly the most overrated film I've ever seen. The film is known for it's terrifying ending. I've seen scarier scenes in Jerry Lewis films! It was a lot of boring build up with no pay off at all. And that final shocking conclusion would be laughable if I wasn't so upset about wasting 2 hours watching this farce. The film was so disappointing. See more Max M. @Househuntermax May 13, 2026 Donald Pleasance was definitely an acting force to be reckoned with during this phase of his career. I don’t think this movie is as good as others do in the reviews, but it’s definitely worth a watch. Maybe even a rewatch because there’s a lot going on. See more Read all reviews
