Dapper Count Dracula (Leslie Nielsen) relocates from his Transylvanian castle to Victorian London with his slavish assistant, Renfield (Peter MacNicol), in search of new blood. He finds it in a pair of beautiful young women, Mina (Amy Yasbeck) and her best friend, Lucy (Lysette Anthony). When Mina's straitlaced fiancé, Jonathan (Steven Weber), notices his future bride's odd behavior, he calls in his mentor, vampire hunter Van Helsing (Mel Brooks), to save the day.

Huge disappointment. Brooks really missed the mark with this one. Wasted the talent of Neilsen and Kormen with terrible shtick. Nothing funny here.

Underrated as heck. This movie is an absolute masterpiece. Brooks knew exactly what he was doing when he made this film. Especially with casting Peter MacNichol as Renfield, that was brilliant.

My wife told me this is one of her childhood favourites, we just watch naked gun 1/2/3 & airplane last week so I was going in with high hopes as a find Leslie Nielsen hilarious, this movie was a complete mess, the story (if you can even call it that) made no sense, the script was filled with meaningless words that did nothing for the movie, I genuinely laughed maybe twice, and it was a small laugh, compared to naked gun where I was in stitches the whole time. Disappointed.

Huge disappointment. The situations are ripe for wit, sparkle, and wisecracks, but the dialogue is slow and obvious. The actors milk the supposed gags rather than tossing them off, and they're few and far between. Mugging and pratfalls substitute for brio. One is constantly being frustrated at seeing one scene after another that shows promise, only to be served with unfunny responses. A talented cast wasted on an inferior script and — I hate to say it — inept direction.
