11/25/2019 Prolific low-budget director Cirio H. Santiago made a career of directing low-budget genre pictures in the Philippines for US distributors and here brings to us his version of "The Road Warrior." Musclebound stuntman/actor/martial artist Richard Norton ("Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars" "Gymkata") plays Slade, our hero who uses his giant machine gun, the Equalizer 2000, to defeat a nasty gang of wasteland bikers. Compared to most of the Italian Mad Max ripoffs, this one actually bothered to film a few car chase action sequences that aren't too bad, but most of the movie is a bunch of dudes in ratty clothes fighting, arguing, and shooting each other up in what looks like an abandoned quarry. One interesting casting note, this is the first film appearance of Robert Patrick, four years before his star making role as the T-1000 in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day." Overall, "Equalizer 2000" is nothing to go out of your way to watch, but if you're desperate for a warriors of the wasteland action flick and have seen all of the good non-Mad Max ones (i.e. "Cherry 2000" "A Boy and His Dog" "Doomsday" "Six String Samurai" and the list pretty much stops there), Cirio H. Santiago's "Equalizer 2000" or "Wheels of Fire" may scratch your itch. See more 01/29/2018 Some sort of apocalypse has happened and Alaska is a desert and generic post-apocalypse set up blah blah blah. Richard Norton stars as Slade, a soldier for the government (called "The Ownership", which sounds idiotic every time someone says it) who is betrayed for vague reasons and teams up with a chick with a halter top and makes a big dumb weapon to blow up bad guys. There are rebels and "mountain people" lead by Vic Diaz and some free agents lead by Robert Patrick. This is a ridiculously dull film featuring scene after scene of completely generic nonsensical action. Very average but Corinne Alphen is very watchable. See more 01/18/2012 Italian Mad Max/ Road Warrior rip off that if you like unsophisticated ubur no budget action you could really spend a less painful way of spending 85 minutes. As taking in an actual structured film that has a scene of script writing & style then you're going to come up 100% empty. This is one of those films that you just don't get any meat in your spaghetti. It's completely sauce & noddle. It's just too poor to give you any protein. When you eat such a thing it will weigh down your belly but will make you feel like you're on welfare. That's what Equalizer 2000 is; a welfare case. There's an audience for it but you're the garbage of cinema viewers See more 03/01/2011 Trailblazing film director Cirio Santiago breaks barriers in the post-apocalyptic genre normally reserved exclusively for the Italian film industry. Cirio takes a backseat to nobody. I can see why Ken Wahl became smitten with Corinne Alphen.
