Eragon (Ed Speleers), a poor farm boy, lives in Alagaesia, a kingdom ruled by Galbatorix (John Malkovich), a powerful but evil monarch. One day, Eragon discovers a beautiful stone that he soon realizes is a dragon's egg. I love Eragon, the book series, with a burning passion. I have read all installments including Murtagh and The With The Fork and The Worm. And when I heard the first book was a movie. I was jumping with joy. I immediately sat down and was disappointed by a mangled plot with poor acting and missed key details. For example in the first 30 minutes the following details were overlooked: Visiting of the merchants Naming of Saphera Telling of the tail of Galabatorix Furthermore the following details were warped Timing of Rorans departure Galabatoixs take on Eragon The nature of Rorans employment The condition of the house following its destruction The appearance of the Razac The appearance of the Urgals The following were unnecessarily added Durza Urgals Galabitorix Arya In case you couldn’t tell I love the series and could tell you the whole tale by memory. The things I listed are only a few of the many mistakes in the FIRST 30 MINUTES. This series has been done an injustice. The movie should have been spilt into three parts so that no detail goes overlooked. I as a dedicated fan would have heavily preferred the movie matching the book word for word. I sorrow for the world I will never get to see in its fully glory. Overall I would only recommend this to people who haven’t read the books. Otherwise it’s impossible to enjoy because how the overlooked details. I had a better image of what everything looked like when it was on paper. The movie has undermined the true glory of Eragon.

I hate this movie with a burning passion. The acting is horrible and the plot points are all over the place. I read the book before watching the movie and I was genuinely excited about it than it just throws away the book and does a loosely based film literally insulting the book. I highly recommend you not watch this movie and I personally won't watch it ever again.
