On the planet Baab, dashing astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero and master of daring rescues. However, Scorch does not work alone; his nerdy brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA, often lends quiet, behind-the-scenes support. When a distress signal arrives from a dangerous planet, Scorch ignores Gary's warnings and sets out on a rescue mission. Scorch soon finds himself caught in a trap set by an evil enemy, and it's up to Gary to save him.

This is very much by-numbers pre-teen fare, spiced up by the sound of William Shatner enjoying himself. Go to Full Review

Its secret weapon is a satirically inclined script, reworked by Stephen Fry among others, that disrupts the general factory-line vibe with regular funny lines. Go to Full Review

An animated film that goes lamely where many have gone before. Go to Full Review

One only has to think of Battlefield Earth and After Earth to realise that putting the name of our planet into a movie title isn't always a good idea. Happily, Escape From Planet Earth is a reasonable exception. Go to Full Review

The animation is hardly out of this world, but a script polish from Stephen Fry and others means that there is a sprinkling of good gags to accompany the siblings' adventures. Go to Full Review

Thatscaredycat @ProMovieReviewer Jan 22 It is great for the kids. Critics still think kids movies should be reviewed as a movie than a kids movie. See more Mokeythemonkey Dec 26 One of the best movie of 2013 in my opinion See more Dominic C 01/26/2025 The main reason I like this movie so much is the message. As someone who has a younger brother, this really hit me. And I just like the movie on its own without the message, so yeah See more Blue O 12/23/2024 Scorch can solo all fictional universes! He can defeat Goku! See more Adrian E @AdrianHulkFan 11/13/2024 Stupid, Stupid, STUPID!!! See more Emilija D 08/12/2024 Between monsters and aliens, I'd always choose aliens, but I don't like that this is the only movie where humans are portrayed negatively and aliens are portrayed positively. The ugly thing is that people are presented as stupid, incompetent and outdated beings, and all important inventions were brought by aliens. If aliens really existed, a war would break out, and I would not comment on who would win. I'm also against putting themes like prison and prison break into children's programs, unless it's in a very comical way, which was not the case here. I like the cast. See more Read all reviews
