Inspired by the book written by Dr. David Reuben, director Woody Allen tackles seven questions about sex by connecting seven not-so-connected stories. From aphrodisiacs to sexual perversion to the mystery of the male orgasm, characters like a court jester (Woody Allen), a doctor (Gene Wilder), a queen (Lynn Redgrave) and a journalist (Heather MacRae) adventure through lab experiments and game shows, all seeking answers to common questions that many would never ask.

Cockeyed and sometimes insanely funny. Go to Full Review Stephen Silver Tilt Magazine Aug 26, 2022

Quite uneven, with some of the segments considerably funnier than others. But the film is valuable as the sort of movie — an anthology, based on a popular nonfiction book — that’s all but disappeared (50th anniversary) Go to Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Nov 1, 2021

The film remains one of Woody's most shocking, vulgar and sophomoric efforts, yet there's no denying its potent comic quota. Go to Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Aug 29, 2020

While each piece alternates between awkward, irreverent, uncomfortable, hilarious, and momentarily brilliant, there isn't much to tie them together. Go to Full Review Dick Lochte Los Angeles Free Press Jan 6, 2020
With one exception, the skits are delightful. Go to Full Review Jesús Fernández Santos El Pais (Spain) Jul 25, 2019
Woody Allen runs the risk of becoming, with time, the main protagonist of the same structures he attacks so assiduously. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 Oct 15, 2026 The early silly ones, Woody's movies from the mid 1960s to mid 1970s, are some fans' favourites. This one - let's just call it Everything - has some unforgettable skits, of which Gene Wilder' character and the sheep probably remains the most (oh, no, not that word!) ICONIC. Woody being chased by the gigantic mammary is also a picture to behold. The frigid wife story, which once again puts Woody into bed alongside his ex-wife Louise Lasser, is somewhat amusing, but my favourite is the disaster movie parody which endeavours to explain dating, arousal and sperm production. Woody appears as a reluctant sperm ("I don't want to get shot out of that thing!"). We actually get some first-person subjective camerawork in that skit. The stuff about cross-dressing and masochism plays less well, in my opinion. Like 1971's Bananas, Everything is a bit patchy, but it is more hit than miss. A sequence of movie parodies, ranging from Italian arthouse to mad scientist horror fantasy. Worth sampling. See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 14, 2026 This movie = a *3.5* star Movie! See more bruce F @bruce999 Aug 31, 2026 some parts were kind of funny. There's mini movies. The first movie, where a man -woody allen , make this bubbling drink for the queen, but then he gets his hand caught in the locking mechanism, is fun to watch. the 2nd movie , where a doctor - gene wilder , falls for a sheep, is just dumb. the third part is ok. But all together, is ok entertainment See more Gi S @Gistevenn Jan 6, 2026 I love a good woody allen movie but this one is the bottom of the barrell.
