See more Ian W @iwaldman 2 days ago The film tosses around the question of “is he lying?” the entire time, taking the audience on an ambiguous ride that leads to little satisfaction. At a certain point, the ambiguity just becomes frustrating and, in the end, the fact that the question had to be mulled over for so long is a type of denial that I can’t relate to. This is the point of the film, though: living in denial. This is apparent with two characters in the film, and this leads to my biggest issue with the film. I had a serious problem with the script and how the runtime was utilized. I found the side plot with our police character to be thematically on theme, but also very on the nose. We didn’t need to spend so much time on this side plot when the message is obvious from the first scene (she is also in denial, and it’s contradictory to her career).
