I'd say that the mechagodzilla vs Godzilla fight was underwhelming. I know that the whole thing is that the main main character has to choose between destroying mechagodzilla and Godzilla escaping or Godzilla and mechagodzilla spreading. But I just felt that it could have been more focused on mechagodzilla fighting Godzilla rather than enhanced mechs of mechagodzilla fighting Godzilla. I thought mechagodzilla would pull some sort of metroplex auto or city stuff but the final battle is mainly just the main character making a choice between his friend and destroying mechagodzilla. This one’s a vast improvement over the previous movie. The scientific yimmer yammer that padded Planet of the Monsters’ runtime is trimmed down here, although it still rears its ugly head enough to annoy. The plot is pretty simple but still entertaining, with more interesting drama and adventure this time. The finale of this movie is absolutely gorgeous both visually story-wise, so definitely worth a watch for that if for nothing else.
