C. R @RT10875826 Apr 25 With the cast, I thought this’d be good. Disappointing, disjointed story: mom drops the kids off then goes back? She’s MIA til the very end. We see the dad at the end when we left him in the first 10 mins. There’s stretches of nothing meaningful happening. Choir songs, a football training montage, a scene at the church feeding folks that went no where. We get random people with no explanation of their relationship. How’s Marilyn related? The stereotypical gang scene was so cringe. Worst was the misogyny. Grandma teaches the lead to cook to get a husband. The little brothers are never asked to do anything. And grandma’s deadbeat son? Yikes! In one scene she tells him he doesn’t need to stand from his seat on the porch cuz he’s gotta be tired (from being a bum). I thought it’d be a joke that pays off later. Nope it was played straight. Then he’s shot & there’s no remorse for coddling him. Her daughter is told to go back to her cheating husband—cuz Jesus wants it. What!? Gross See more niah ☆ @sensableguy Dec 18 Trash. I should have known it would be garbage as soon as I saw that overly religious Tyler Perry actor playing the grandma. It really lost me when the grandma advised her to take her cheating husband back because "god would want her to"..i mean, what sense does that even make!? The simplest thing the children would do would be considered unreasonably "ungodly -like". I believe in the guy too but come on, this movie feels like God propaganda. Bad message. Bad acting. If you believe in God in a normal, regular person way.. do not watch this. See more 01/06/2020 This movie gives hope that anyone with a dream can make a movie. Plot pulled in so many directions, didn't know where to focus on. The religious lessons missed their mark consistently, and the ending left too much to be desired.
