Critics Consensus

Greed rarely hits quite as hard as it ought to, but solid laughs and a smartly assembled cast keep this one-percent satire entertaining.

Greed would feel a bit underdeveloped, were it not for a gear shift in the final 30 minutes as Winterbottom embarks on thoughtful exposé of the human cost of fast fashion.

"Greed" seems unsure of whether it's meant to be a comedy, a parody or a satire, and winds up whiffing on all three accounts.

Coogan’s gleaming, toothy white bite in Greed has some searing wit, and a bruising browbeating leaves its mark.

Somehow, despite the films heavy themes, Winterbottom, Coogan, and the generous supporting cast make the material amusing and entertaining at the same time.

A comedy from Winterbottom that brings together, like coins, some of the essential qualities that make a good satire, although the mixture never seems to shine enough to complete the transaction. Full review in Spanish

I go to the movies to be entertained, not listen to political social agendas. Waste of time and money.

Possibly THE WORST movie I have seen THIS YEAR. IN THE LAST DECADE. and/or IN MY LIFE!! The premise, the actors and the previews led me to pick this movie in my weekly pilgrimage to the Movies downtown. However, upon viewing, I began to see this as a 'reality documentary' much like the young couple in the movie, only with less authenticity. I truly felt sorry for the principals who were thrust into this movie with direction much like the 'Colosseum' being built on set. It was a deep dark retribution for me to have stuck around long enough to see Steve Coogan get his 'Just Deserts" for allowing himself to get dragged in (and out) of this dirge of a film....and I HATE giving negative reviews!!

It was a sobering comment on how we buy clothing and inequities.

Preachy and unfunny. This is not a black comedy, it’s the worldview of a Guardian reader rendered into unadulterated liberal propaganda.

I don't understand how this movie gets such poor ratings. Steve Coogan could carry any movie, but this one actually has substance and makes statements that have to be made. Made. Is a searing indictment of capitalism and greed. But somehow it's also very funny at the same time. There is that odd relationship between tragedy and comedy in this movie is it.
