Sworn to preserve intergalactic order, the Green Lantern Corps has existed for centuries. Its newest recruit, Hal Jordan, is the first human to join the ranks. The Green Lanterns have little regard for humans, who have thus far been unable to harness the powers of the ring each member wears. All the prancing about on a galaxy far far away where Hal [Ryan Reynolds] meets the other Green Lanterns, and the wise ancients, and a gigantic gruff sergeant-type who learns him his ropes is all a bit of a bore.

Uma enorme desilusão que falha em quase todas as frentes. A história de origem do Hal Jordan é arrastada, o argumento é raso e os vilões são completamente esquecíveis e sem ameaça real. Para piorar, os efeitos visuais são péssimos para o orçamento que o filme teve; o fato digital do Lanterna Verde tem um aspeto artificial e bizarro que distrai o espectador constantemente. Ryan Reynolds tenta trazer alguma energia à personagem, mas o material é tão fraco que a experiência se torna penosa e sem qualquer alma.
