At the risk of seeming woo-woo, Hamnet does hold you in a metaphorical embrace, one which gives you permission to feel connected to emotions the rest of the world tells you to push down. Go to Full Review

Mescal, rightly, takes a back seat while Buckley lets rip with the most astounding ferocity. It is ruthlessly manipulative and maybe you will be able to resist. But I’d take a hanky all the same. Go to Full Review

4/5
The film’s storyline is more straightforward than the book’s and its main points are spelt out more emphatically but if the plot loses some of its delicacy on screen, the impact of its ending makes up for it. Go to Full Review

Zhao manages to offer quite a memorable experience out of a project too ambitious for it's own good, bolstering real history with enough poetic and mystical qualities to push Hamnet's tale into myth. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

What makes Hamnet ultimately work is the force of its climax, a devastating convergence of Jessie Buckley's magnificent performance, memory, and grief-stricken belated recognition. Go to Full Review

Tuna T 4d Liked the female and male lead performances See more Lisa K @LisaKat 6d I loved this movie so much. As a mom, I was deeply touched by the relationship between the parents and by the story of the children. The grief and healing was so beautifully shared, and I felt like I was healed through the story. I took several people to see this movie. I also really appreciated the new angle on the relationship between Shakespeare and his wife. Their connection and mutual support was really beautiful. Highly recommend.
