The writer/director made the choice to start the film and continue for the next 80% of it with the main character having absolutely zero likable qualities. That was tough to watch. In fact I was hating this film for the majority of it. It’s not because the acting was bad. Nor was it due to bad dialogue. Both were very real and believable. It was just very uncomfortable to watch someone destroying their relationship and career due to addiction and ego. Eventually I came to sympathize a little for her. But that was only at the very end. I am curious if those who spent a life in the music industry think this film is a fair representation of what it’s like. I’m glad I saw“Her Smell” once. But I cannot imagine ever wanting to view it again.

This is not a new story and Elisabeth Moss is insufferable. There's nothing authentic about the character or the performance. It's like she truly believes she's that important and so the character has no depth. I don't know. Do you like cliché? You'll love "Her Smell."
