Disney tackles Greek mythology in this animated feature. Hercules (Tate Donovan), a son of gods, was snatched as a baby by Hades (James Woods) and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. Critics Consensus

Fast-paced and packed with dozens of pop culture references, Hercules might not measure up with the true classics of the Disney pantheon, but it's still plenty of fun.

In the galaxy of Disney movies, it's near the top but not among the greatest like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and the original 101 Dalmatians. Still, a good-but-not-great Disney is Olympian fields ahead of the competition's best. Go to Full Review

Hercules has it all: fun for the kids, a nice object lesson or two, and enough humor to keep the grown-ups entertained. The Disney lightning strikes again. Go to Full Review

It's clever, empty, imaginatively drawn, more for adults than kids, and yet further evidence that the great American public is no longer thought capable of responding to anything beyond the present moment and their own backyard. Go to Full Review

K G @KatyG-S 3d Bless My Soul, Herc' was on a roll! Disney used to just be creative with focusing on tales in other parts of a storytelling world in its renaissance. This time, it focused on the Greek gods & the boy who came from the sky: Hercules! Hercules was always something special, given that he was the son of the Gods to save them from the alternate dead reality & save the love of his life, Meg. About the characters, which were my favourite part of the movie... every one of then is so iconic & distinct. Hercules was deemed a wimp growing up but in the end, is a hero & would never give up, but Danny Devito was disrespectful about rookies - "Givin' ups for rookies". Meg is so sassy, unhappy to be around Hades*. Now Hades, is a villain, but he such an icon with his sass & humour, not too evil - my favourite quote of is "Relax, its only half time". Now, my favourite ones, are the Muses - the 5 women from the vase who sing & narrate our tale. I love all them songs. Having him say he would 'go the distance' felt a sacrilege. Nice animation, rubbish script, basically. However the film is good nonetheless as it had some interesting action See more Read all reviews
