It has the goofy glamour of an era when characters in love could only embrace standing up, brought to life by big, broad performances from Montgomery, James Gleason and Edward Horton.

Excellent acting, cinematography, and direction, with a consistently upbeat and reasoning approach to heavy themes.

Effortlessly charming and endlessly imitated, Here Comes Mr. Jordan is a fantasy comedy with a surprisingly complex take on the afterlife and the nature of fate.

There are some nice comic moments peppered throughout, but more interesting than the film itself is its influence on film and TV.

One of my all time favorite films- delightful acting, and emotional wallop to close things out.

Watched after seeing Heaven Can Wait. The original is identical and good for its age. Watched on DVD.

Precise storytelling that doesn't waste words or time. Relax and indulge in another film from Hollywood's prime. A first-rate fantasy that shows modern producers how it should be done.

A lot of the cinematography was great, but I didn't connect with the main character at all. I know he was meant to be a low educated boxer, but they could have at least given him street smarts. He came across as dumb as a rock... extremely slow to figure out what was going on. I also felt there was a lot of repitition explaining how the world worked, as if the audience didn't get it the first two times.

Like many people, I saw the Warren Beatty remake before this one. I loved that one, but the original is just as good! Great acting, great dialogue! Good score by Frederick Hollander. Highly recommended!

I'll give the supporting cast due credit for their professionalism but this particular fairy tale is otherwise weak. Plot holes aplenty; with the worst one being KO Murdoch being gunned down from close range in front of a crowd of thousands. We aren't shown that event, probably because even the writers and director knew it couldn't be made semi-believable.
