See more 02/06/2022 I feel guilty writing this sentence but here goes: This movie actually made me laugh out loud during what were basically two RAPE scenes. I've seen many comedies make murder funny ("Heathers," to name just one) but I have never seen a comedy make rape funny. Is that reason enough to recommend this movie? No. But I thought I'd mention it. I WILL, however, recommend this movie because its a no-hold-barred, nothing off limits comedy about exploitation films; complete with a segment parodying the often dangerous conditions such movies were made under in the Philippines. If you like old exploitation movies or at least appreciate them or (at the VERY least) know something about them, then you'll find HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD to be fun and full of laughs. If not, you won't. See more 07/25/2014 Hollywood Boulevard is a surprisingly enjoyable piece of trash from Roger Corman and company. Directed by Allan Arkush and Joe Dante (his first directing gig), it tells the story of a young starlet who gets into the business and is privy to the slimy underbelly of Hollywood. It doesn't help that someone is bumping off her fellow cast and crew members one by one either. The movie reuses footage from previous Roger Corman productions, including The Terror and Death Race 2000, to complete scenes. The movie is one of the first, that I know of anyway, to lampoon or spoof its fellow movies. It takes elements from behind the scenes of all of Roger Corman's movies and makes a fun movie out of it all. There isn't much in the way of character development and it doesn't have a concrete plot, but it doesn't really matter. It's a fun adventure that's sleazy and hilarious.
