Hyena Road was a rough watch. The story goes nowhere, jumps between ideas, and never earns the weight it clearly wants to carry. The Canadian accents are an outright distraction and honestly embarrassing, pulling you out of every tense moment instead of grounding it in reality. For a war film, it lacks urgency, clarity, and any real emotional payoff. Easily in my top three worst war movies I have ever sat through.

Cliched, cartoon characters, no great story line, if you don’t understand war and you don’t know the history of Afghanistan you might vaguely enjoy it

Well it’s an older one now but a pleasure to hear real Canadian accents ( except wf with the bad American accent and Rossif?) anyway - the lads did a bang up job. Paul Gross has aged very well. I wish we could see more investment into Canadian production.

Not the typical war movie and that’s a good thing. The dialogue is more interesting in the way it seems like regular conversations in everyday life between characters. Several plot lines about personal life and feelings blend well with the combat situations. Easy to watch and flows smoothly.
